My name is Mauricio Cano, I am a naive aquarellist living in Veracruz, Mexico.
1. You are a new addition to the crayon box, What color would you be and why?
I think I would be a "Festive Blue" I'm always have something to do with that color in many and different circumstances, sometimes by accident, sometimes in my dreams.
Why? because it mentally relaxes me, gives me peace, and I always relate it to the music, that for me is the most beautiful art.
2. What technique do you use?
I've used many techniques like: pencil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, ink, geso, crayon, but mainly oil and my favorite, watercolor.
3. If your creative work were edible, what would it taste like?
Wow, that's a tough question, ha ha ha, but I think it would be a variety of sweet & sour, sweet & acid or sweet & sweet, It will depends on the artwork, I can think also that some could taste like a mushroom pizza with onions and pepperoni, my favorite.
4. What made you decide to follow a creative career?
When I was about to go to elementary school, I went with my dad to Mexico City, we went to the zoo and there was a Children's Center and they were having some "paint contests" so I did mine and won; since then I started drawing a lot even my history teacher asked me to help her draw some maps on the chalkboard. I do believe that there are things that you have deep inside and are part of your destiny.
5. Who is the most creative person that you have ever known?
Wow! it's very difficult to answer, in my family there are very creative people, my friends, some characters from history, My parents for example, they have a very special bond where my Mom said what needs to be done and my Dad did it the way she wanted.
But there is one artist Gustave Doré, he was a French artist, was a printmaker, illustrator, comics artist, caricaturist and sculptor, it amazed me all the things He did, I found it difficult to believe that someone like him had so much creativity.
6. What advice would you give to other artist?
I feel like I am the least "qualified" to give an advice but it would be: Everything that you do, do it with passion, Love what you do maybe it's a cliché but it is true.
7. What superpower would you like to have and why?
I like my superpower, but I wish it could be faster, the thought of being able to create something in my mind and immediatley put on a canvas in a few minutes would be awesome.
