My name is Alfredo Schaufelberger. I am an Advertising Photographer living in Mexico City.
I’ve been a photographer for 18 years, I studied graphic design at the National School of Plastic Arts at the UNAM in Xochimilco, Mexico.
Afterward, I studied photography which is what led me to devote more to photography than graphic design.
1. If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
Definitely, a hawk or an eagle because all the time they are in the air and as a child I have always been very interested in the sky, that's why I am also a parachutist. But definitely a Falcon.
2. How would you describe the color blue to somebody who is blind ?
I would take him/her to a quiet beach where he/she can feel the breeze and listen to the sound of the waves, being calm or it could be strong to and if possible listen to the singing of the whales, then that will be the way I would describe the blue, as a scene of tranquility and the calm that the sea presents.
3. Have you ever doubted your talent? If so, how did you work through your doubt?
Yes, it was something conflicting. Because there comes a time when you lose ground because of your work and you think that everything you do is perfect, but for that reason, you lock yourself in your ego and do not notice or you overlook faults that maybe would make you see defects.
As in my case, one of my teachers told me that my work was very good but stated: ‘You are trusting yourself too much. You have to put your feet on the ground, be sure of what you are doing but don’t get too overconfident“.
When this happened, it was shocked, I doubted of my talent but returned to pay attention to the details review what I studied, learn from it and said to myself, this is where I belong.
4. When did you know that this was what you wanted to do with your life? How did you get started?
Ever Since I was a child when I was given my first camera, I took photos of everything. eg. I would photograph anything that caught my attention such as light poles, flies, etc. except for people. I think because my father was a painter, I would watch him paint and thought to myself I could do that but through photography.
5. How have you dealt with any criticism you have gotten because of your photographs?
I take it from an advice my mother gave me many years ago, which says: Take the things from which they come from, if the person who criticizes me is a person who knows, I thank them and ask how they would improve it, but if it is a person who does not know and is doing it just to bother or show off, I do not give any importance.
6. Who would win a fight between Spiderman and Batman? And why?
Taking into consideration that Spiderman is a mutant due to an accident and that his IQ is very high but he has a truncated Ph.D. now, taking into consideration that Batman is very angry but an excellent strategist, his IQ is very similar to Spiderman but as for strength, I believe that Spiderman, he is much agiler and can foresee an attack, which I see is very difficult for someone who just studied martial arts and who can be a strategist.
7. What superpower would you have and why?
I will like to be able to Teleport, because first I would save a lot of money in transportation, I would not waste time traveling, I could go anywhere at the time I wanted, whether to take pictures or just to look around.
8. What advice would you give those young people who are starting either a job, a business or pursuing their passion?
Lately, the young people are more sensitive to criticism and I would tell them to accept criticism and to let the more experienced people guide them and be open and learn from them.
